THE BUCKET LIST

A must see movie pokoknya *lagi ga mood buat cerita panjang-panjang*

Continuum - The Review

.
12.09.06 Continuum was finally released. Today (1 day after the release date) I bought the CD in KGM after Dinner in A-Hwa. I was about to get upset when Disc Tara said that the CD hasn’t arrive yet. I try to find it in a small and not so famous music store and there’s plenty of CONTINUUM lying around in the display.
.
Now here’s my review (a not so objective review from a fans). BLUES definitely influence this album a lot as I said before in here. Luckily it’s not a hard core BLUES otherwise I’d skip his album again just like TRY! The first single “Waiting on The World to Change” is quite catchy and easy to listen. A little bit political message in the lyrics but I find it as a fun way of saying things along with another song “Belief”. Forget about his previous album especially ROOM FOR SQUARE (RFS). You won’t find candy song like “Your Body is A Wonderland” in CONTINUUM but overall there are plenty of slow and comfy song like “Gravity” and “Stop This Train” that kinda reminds me of “3x5” in RFS.

One of the song that got into people’s talk is
Jimi Hendrix’s Bold as Love that surprisingly I find it good to listen to. I thought a Jimi Hendrix’s song must be very loud and confusing to my ears but as JM said in an interview in Vh1 he just want to introduce Jimi Hendrix to the younger generation… and it works! (at least for me if you considered me as the younger generation huehehehehe). And guess what, it becomes one of my favorite songs from the album. I don't know the original song sounds and i don't care. JM's version will definitely sounds better to me.

I did read few official reviews in JM’s fans forum. Some good some bad but the common review they made is that JM’s music is grow. Whatever that means. The fact is the fans are growing with him too. What I’m saying is CONTINUUM might not be the answer to a Justin Timberlake’s die hard fans (and he happened to released his new album on the same day as JM – head to head competition eh? We know who’s gonna win though) but to the original fans of John Mayer you might raised your eyebrow a little but still be able to enjoy the whole album.

So, buy the album. You won’t regret it.

Superman Returns

Skitar jam 5.00 Syl and Isa udah muncul. Akhirnya jadi juga kita nonton Superman Returns

About The Movie. Bagus! Well... Hello!! Tapi survive for many years tuh.... (maap jadi sedikit esmosi!). Effect-nya juga ok dan canggih. Ada cacat dikit sih seperti rambutnya Lois Lane yang ga berkibar2 dengan heboh waktu dibawa ke langit (yang saya yakin pasti berangin banget atau ngga ya? maap deh kalo salah, saya kan belom pernah dibawa Superman terbang hehehehehe) but it was ok lah. Sayangnya waktu kami nonton agak keganggu sama komentar2 ngga penting dari ABG-ABG yang duduk dibelakang kami. Pas adegan peluru mengenai mata si mas Superman, ABG berisik itu teriak-teriak kagum, untung aja ga pake tepuk tangan.

Akhirnya pulang kami selesai dengan hati senang. Isa boleh bilang kalo Brandon Routh ga semacho Chirstopher Reeves tapi buat saya Mas Don Don lebih oke daripada Mas NuNu or Mas Pipit.

Superman : The Fast & The Furious

Karena kemaleman datang rencana saya, isa and syl nomat Superman Returns terpaksa diganti dengan The Fast & The Furious : Tokyo Drift. Ga kalah seru kok film-nya walaupun I’m not a car freak.

Inget Lost in Translation? (yang buat saya amat sangat membosankan tapi buat beberapa orang bagus) seharusnya sih itu yang dialami si Lucas waktu pertama kali ke Tokyo tapi dia mah cepet bener adaptasinya. Ya mungkin karena emang bukan disitu inti ceritanya. Yang penting ada kebut-kebutannya lah. Logika cerita nomer keseratus sekian aja.

Apakah saya terhibur?

Da Vinci Code : The Review

Akhirnya jadi juga nonton The Da Vinci Code’ di Djakarta Theater. Total kita ber-6 with the usual gank minus dolphin a.k.a Kim San Soon (yang udah janjian sama anak2 kantor lamanya) plus 3 bintang tamu anak-anak kuningan.

As Langdon said in the movie : WHAT MATTER IS WHAT YOU BELIEVE. Agree!

Munich vs MI:3

This last couple of weeks I saw 2 movies and both movies are about secret agent and their mission for their government with their own agenda. The first movie I saw was MUNICH (aira and meb want to see the movie because eric bana was in it – and it turned out I agree with them – Damned! He’s so hot he3x) and last night I saw MI:3 with the one and only mr. Tom Cruise himself as agent Ethan Hunt (although I’m not a fans but I have to admit that he still looks good in his 40s and after saw him bounced up and down in Oprah’s couch ).

I’m not gonna write detail of these movies but after I saw both movies I feel like I saw totally two different type of movie eventhough they kind of have the same theme. In MUNICH seeing Avner (played by Eric Bana) lead a mission felt like seeing a secret agent as a human being (maybe because the movie is based on true story). Avner and his team made stupid (humanly) mistakes like blowing off the wrong place or simply just showing real human feelings such as confusion, doubt, scare and afraid (of death, totally human right?).

Now let’s talk about MI:3. I should say that Ethan Hunt (despite of having a solid full team) didn’t seem to look like human. Ok, he’s got relationship and all but I saw him more of a god than a human being or maybe I should say that he’s a half god man (manusia setengah dewa geto loh….) that even after he got hit by a car or fall hard to a concrete wall still alive and strong. Well, maybe because this movie is purely fiction and not based on real story but still watching these two movies create different image in my mind (even the poster says it all).

By the way after
Indonesian Police Force catch few terrorist in Wonosobo few days ago I was thinking……. maybe this mission was lead by an “avner” officer? (got it?)*

THE PREMIERE

EKSPEDISI - MADEWA
-------------------

Friday, 03032006 – For the first time (and probably the last time) I got invited to a movie premiere. No, No…. I got the ticket not because I’m a highly respected person or famous socialite; it just happened that The Director’s wife’s is my Bestfriend. So, I consider myself as lucky to be given such rare opportunity. I got two tickets for the premiere so I ask my friend Isa** to accompany me and meet up with my other friend Adia** and her husband there. I thought I would be walking on the red carpet like you all see in Hollywood movie premiere. But it turned out that the actual *stars walking on the red carpet* show were already held about 2 hours before. Damned!! I never know how it would feel to be pictured with lots of photographer while walking on the red carpet…. Luckily I’m not dressed up to much for the occasion... hahahahaha....

Some people said that this is the first adventure movie ever made in Indonesia. An Indonesian Indiana Jones they said, but the poster is more look like Lara Croft - Tomb Rider’s poster to me. Seeing Tora Sudiro holding “ketapel” instead of *another deadly looking cool to carry around* weapon looks ridiculous though.

As an amateur, let me give you *a don’t trust to much cause I’m not professional movie critics* review. First of all… Let me tell you about Tora who plays a nature lover slash adventurer turn to be an expedition – guard?!?!. Why somehow I can’t get his extravaganza image out of my mind? The one that catch my attention was (believe it or not) Arie Dagienkz who plays Tira’s partner in the expedition company. He was so natural and has a certain characteristic that made his acting looks good (at least to me).
Secondly, the scenario still need touch up here and there. To be totally honest, the scenes sometimes weren’t connected one to another. It got me confused why the hell that wealthy businessman named Madewa wants to finance an expedition for? No specific background to explain it. So what if he was the aired of an Artifact that happen to be a "keris". And he had to kill people for it?
And one more thing, the bad guy played by Indra Birowo… his acting is ok but his motivation for following Tira’s to the jungle and risk his life is not convincing enough (once again…. At least to me). The leading lady who plays by Marsha Timothy is ok too but the appearance of Intan Kaunang is quite disturbing. She was plain and her character was lack of soul, not to mention that her outfit was killing me. She looks more like sales girl instead of wealthy businessman’s assistant in that white and horrible dress.

Overall it’s quite entertaining, but just don’t expect it to be like Indiana Jones or Lara Croft in. It’s a good start though, for the first time someone has the guts to create something different and not stuck to the romance theme that most Indonesian movie all about. My thumbs up to the Director (Way to go Peng!!!). So…. it won’t hurt if you all can spend a little time of your money and precious time to check this movie out.

There you go… that’s my *can’t be so trusted cause I don’t know much about movie making and acting* review. Up to you if you want to believe me or not but there's only one way to prove me right or wrong… Nonton ‘ndiri deh and tell me what you think… Sekalian biar bisa bantuin si produser balik modal nih… huehehehehehehe

** The names mention here except for the cast from the movie are not real :p
